Job Summary

Alaska X is a leading provider of shore excursions in Southeast Alaska. We operate numerous tours and activities while building virtually all elements of our excursion experiences in-house—including retail buildings, zip-lines, suspension bridges, remote cabins, docks, and other commercial structures. We are dynamic and work on diverse projects throughout the season. Notably, we operate our own sawmill and are completing our first hydroelectric project to power one of our camps!

During the summer season, Alaska X hosts approximately 150 seasonal staff members to deliver exceptional shore excursions. This position is critical to supporting our operations.

In this role, you will work in diverse settings to construct and maintain durable, functional infrastructure and products. The ideal candidate will have solid knowledge of tools and techniques for carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, painting, and general maintenance. Working independently while adhering to all health and safety standards is essential. Your goal will be to contribute to the construction and maintenance of strong, long-lasting buildings and products.

Main Responsibilities:

Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements

Take measurements and calculate materials needed

Cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other materials (e.g., fiberglass) according to specifications

Build window frames, doors, staircases, and frame buildings using raw or pre-constructed materials

Install flooring, roofing, and drywall, ensuring proper leveling and compatibility

Carve, assemble, and install furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other items as designated

Inspect buildings and conduct repairs or maintenance as needed

Build scaffolding and other construction structures

Perform general maintenance on buildings, equipment, and properties

Job Requirements

Certified or able to attain First Aid/CPR certification

Able to lift up to 50 lbs

Legally eligible to work in the US

21 years or older

Valid driver's license
