The City of Seward is recruiting for a Library Museum Technician
This position is responsible for quality control of Library Museum records and manages all Library Museum related technologies. The position also manages the interlibrary loans, serves as a passport agent and shares responsibility of Library & Museum accounting practices and procedures. Assist public with various technology needs.
DETAILED WORK DUTIES:
Processed and catalogs materials using cataloging resources, library databases, and the creation of original records as required.
Locates, distributes, and tracks Interlibrary Loan materials for patrons, maintains records, produces reports and submits invoices for damaged and lost materials.
Performs Library Museum cash management procedures and deposits revenues with the City Finance Department in coordination with other Library Museum staff, reconciles daily accounting activity on rotating schedule as outlined in cash management policy.
Assists with maintaining US and regulatory and Passport Agent procedures.
Provides customer service as needed, responds to inquiries, or directs request to appropriate Library Museum personnel, takes admission fees, answers questions about exhibits and the City of Seward.
Performs Library circulation functions and service while at the Library and Museum front desks.
Assists all interns, volunteers, and community service workers.
Maintains confidentiality of all Library Museum records in accordance with State law.
Sorts and shelves used Library materials daily, empties book depository, reads, and straightens shelves according to Dewey Decimal Classification system.
Maintains order and cleanliness of Library and Museum by straightening, dusting, adjusting and light surface cleaning as needed and directed.
Implements opening and closing procedures as directed.
Provides instruction and advice to patrons and staff on the use of online resources such as the Alaska Digital Library, Alaska Library Catalog and museum and library catalogs and relevant resources.
Provides effective and efficient customer service and promotes and maintains responsive community relations.
Follows safe work practices.
Performs related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, experience with the public preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, skills, and ability:
Library Museum policies and procedures.
The Dewey Decimal System.
The use of office equipment including computers and relevant software programs.
Oral and written communications.
Customer service.
Troubleshooting and problem solving.
Read and interpret basic instructions and safety rules.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and Library Museum patrons.
Apply basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Solve practical problems and seek assistance when needed.
Multi-task and prioritize work.
Maintain confidentiality.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, Library Museum patrons, and the general public.
Valid Driver’s License.
Obtain Passport Agent Certification.
Must complete ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 within first 6 months of employment.
