Do you enjoy meeting people, hearing their stories, and connecting them with opportunities that matter to them? The University of Alaska Anchorage is seeking a Leadership Annual Giving fundraiser to help grow philanthropic support for Alaska’s largest university.
In this role, you will manage a portfolio of donors and prospective donors, build relationships through personalized outreach and face-to-face meetings, and invite individuals to make meaningful annual gifts in support of UAA students, programs, and priorities. You will also play an important role in identifying and developing donors who may become future major gift prospects.
We are looking for someone who is personable, persistent, organized, and motivated by results. Fundraising experience is welcomed, but we also encourage candidates with backgrounds in sales, relationship management, business development, community engagement, or other fields where success depends on building relationships and confidently asking people to invest.
If you enjoy connecting with people and want to see the tangible impact of your work on students and communities throughout Alaska, this position offers an opportunity to build a career in professional fundraising while helping advance UAA’s mission.
The University of Alaska Anchorage Development Office builds philanthropic partnerships that advance UAA’s mission and create opportunities for students, faculty, programs, and communities across Alaska. The Development team works collaboratively with university leadership, colleges and schools, alumni, donors, corporations, foundations, and community partners to secure private support for UAA’s highest priorities.
The Leadership Annual Giving (LAG) position plays an important role in developing UAA’s pipeline of individual donors. The position focuses on donors and prospects with the potential to make meaningful annual gifts and helps move them from broad annual giving engagement toward increasingly significant philanthropic relationships with the university.
Through personalized outreach, donor visits, thoughtful cultivation, and direct solicitation, the LAG fundraiser manages a portfolio of donors and prospects, builds relationships around their interests, and asks for annual gifts in support of UAA priorities. The position works closely with Annual Giving and Major Gifts colleagues to identify promising donors, increase donor retention and giving, and develop future major gift prospects.
This is a relationship-focused fundraising position that combines consistent donor outreach with measurable fundraising goals. Success requires someone who enjoys connecting with people, is comfortable asking for financial support, and can manage a high volume of donor activity while building authentic, long-term relationships.
A successful candidate will be an engaging communicator who is comfortable initiating conversations and developing relationships with a wide variety of people. Fundraising experience is valuable, but experience in sales, business development, relationship management, nonprofit work, higher education, or another field requiring proactive outreach and measurable results can also translate well to this position.
The strongest candidate will be self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working toward clear goals for donor contacts, meetings, solicitations, and dollars raised. They should be able to manage a portfolio of relationships, consistently follow up on opportunities, listen carefully to what motivates a donor, and connect those interests with meaningful opportunities at UAA.
This role also requires someone who is comfortable making direct asks for financial support. The ideal candidate will approach fundraising with curiosity and confidence, understand that relationship building and solicitation go hand in hand, and be motivated by both individual donor relationships and measurable results.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, business, public administration or relevant field and four years of experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
