What you will be doing:
The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is seeking a strategic and collaborative leader to oversee the department's shoreside payroll program and help shape the future of payroll services across the organization.
In this key leadership role, you will provide vision, direction, and oversight for payroll operations that support a diverse DOT&PF workforce across Alaska. You will shape department payroll strategy, establish governance and compliance frameworks, and ensure the consistent application of collective bargaining agreements, employment laws, and statewide payroll policies.
As the department's senior shoreside payroll leader, you will partner with executive leadership, collaborate across agencies, and lead continuous improvement efforts that strengthen payroll services and support organizational goals. You will evaluate and resolve complex issues involving financial risk, labor relations, and audit exposure while balancing legal requirements, contractual obligations, and operational needs.
This position provides leadership to supervisory and professional staff and is responsible for maintaining the integrity, consistency, and effectiveness of a decentralized payroll program. You will play a critical role in developing employees, supporting professional growth, fostering collaboration, and creating a positive work environment that promotes engagement, accountability, and retention.
