Zach Gordon Youth Services is looking for a Youth Development Leader to

work directly

with Juneau youth, providing on-site programming at either Geneva Woods or Cedar Park

.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone who is dedicated to Juneau’s youth and families. Someone who is interested in program development that is creative, fun, and place based. We are looking for someone who is excited to support and connect with families by hosting a monthly family night and communicating with families about upcoming activities and events. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, organized, and has a sense of humor about things. We are looking for someone who values relationships and is skilled in building in nurturing them.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION

Work will coincide with the Juneau School District calendar. Work shifts will typically be;

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 1:30

PM

- 5:30 PM

and occasionally on Wednesday from 1:30

PM

- 5:30PM

Typical Responsibilities

You will be helping us run grant funded afterschool program!

The position is responsible for creating an overall safe and engaging space for youth.

In this position you will be working directly with youth, providing on-site programming at either Geneva Woods or Cedar Park

up to 20 hours per week

. This will include monthly family nights, field trips, and ongoing support of youth.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Graduation from high school or the equivalent;

Substitute

:

Two (2) courses from an accredited college in a human related field may substitute for experience

AND

any combination of work experience or post-secondary education totaling six (6) months in any field.

Other:

First Aid and CPR certification

within 30 days of appointment;

A valid driver's license at time of appointment is

preferred

but not required

.

Under Alaska Statute 12.62.160 (9) Appointments to this position are offered conditionally, pending the results of a criminal records report (Non-FBI). Human Resources evaluates the results to ensure the applicant does not have any convictions that result in a direct nexus to the primary duties involving supervising minors.
