Pay will be determined based on

Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla salary: $4,133.60
Fairbanks salary: $4,257.60
Juneau salary: $4,340.00
What you will be doing:
The Division of Water, within the Department of Environmental Conservation, is recruiting a Village Safe Water (VSW) Engineer 2. This position works on behalf of rural Alaskan communities in their pursuit of advancing drinking water, wastewater, and solid waste capital improvement projects. The successful applicant will directly manage and supervise the management of funded planning, design, and construction projects using civil, environmental, and sanitary engineering theories, concepts, principles, and practices.

The mission of the Division of Water is to protect public health and the environment. This position contributes to that mission by providing engineering expertise and leadership to advance capital improvement projects to address sanitation deficiencies in rural Alaskan communities.
VSW comprises engineers, environmental specialists, and project managers dedicated to the mission of providing safe drinking water and protecting water quality for all Alaskans. In this role, you will lead and supervise a team of 1 to 5 engineers, environmental specialists, and/or project managers.

The working environment you can expect:
This position may be filled in Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla, Juneau, or Fairbanks. The work schedule is flexible and teleworking opportunities are available. The position requires short-duration travel to rural communities in Alaska. Travel for training and project site inspections should also be expected.

Special Notice:
A valid driver`s license is required.
A professional engineering (PE) certification listed in the State of Alaska is required of the VSW Engineer II position.
This position requires travel to remote locations within the State (normally three to six trips of up to three days per year). Travel mode may include small plane, boat and/or snow machine.
Minimum Qualifications
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)
AND
One year of professional experience as an Engineering Associate 1 (or the equivalent) with the State of Alaska or elsewhere.
Special Note:
"Professional engineering" includes the branches listed in 12 AAC 36.990 (17).
Positions in this class require professional registration as an Engineer with the State of Alaska.
Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
Some positions require the incumbent to have specific education and/or experience with water, sewer and/or solid waste. This requirement will be addressed in the Position Description and job posting.
