Temporary Building Maintenance

Primary Purpose of Job & Essential Duties/Responsibilities

The City and Borough of Sitka is hiring temporary workers to assist with seasonal building maintenance. These positions perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to:

Performing exterior facility washing and cleaning.

Applying paint and finishes to interior and exterior walls.

Replacing and cleaning HVAC filters to maintain air quality.

Assisting maintenance staff with repairs and preventative maintenance.

Organizing and cleaning supply rooms and mechanical spaces.

Transporting and disposing of waste materials.

Minimum Qualifications & Other Job Requirements/Expectations

Preferred experience includes basic understanding of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.), familiarity with hand and power tools, and workspace safety practices. Additional desired skills include attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, and a willingness to learn.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old; HS diploma or GED; and possess a valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Applicants must have the ability to perform medium to heavy manual labor outside in potentially adverse weather conditions.
