Structural Engineer (EIT) - Bridge & Waterfront

At PND Engineers, we are committed to mentoring and guiding entry-level engineers to help them build a strong foundation for success.

About the Role

As a Structural Engineer (EIT), you will:

Work under the guidance of experienced engineers to assist with structural load determination, perform calculations, and design various bridge and waterfront structures, including:

Vehicle and pedestrian bridges

Gangways and trestles

Marine terminals

Harbors and marinas

Mooring and berthing structures

Piers, wharves, bulkheads, and quays

Breakwaters and shore protection structures

Learn to develop construction drawings using AutoCAD with mentorship from senior staff.

Participate in inspections and condition assessments of existing structures, and develop detailed technical reports with the support of your team.

Collaborate across disciplines such as site-civil design, surveying, geotechnical engineering, and permitting to broaden your skill set and industry knowledge.

Qualifications

We welcome entry-level candidates who meet the following qualifications:

B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited institution.

Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) exam or can do so within six months of hire.

Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA 3D, SAP) and AutoCAD is helpful but not required—we’re ready to teach!

A team-oriented mindset and a willingness to learn from experienced engineers.

Knowledge of basic structural principles and a desire to deepen your understanding of design codes/standards and materials.

Strong communication skills, including technical writing.

Motivation to grow professionally and tackle new challenges.

Willingness to travel occasionally and participate in fieldwork.

A valid U.S. driver’s license, a good driving record, and vehicle insurance.

Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
