Join SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC)- a distinguished non-profit health consortium dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare services to the residents of beautiful Southeast Alaska. We are seeking an experienced full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a small tight-knit rural primary care team in beautiful Gustavus, Alaska. This position will serve as the Site Supervisor for the Gustavus Clinic, overseeing the day-to-day operations and delivery of care. Providers enjoy a broad scope of practice, develop meaningful, long-term patient relationships, and benefit from the autonomy of practicing true rural medicine. At the same time, they remain well-supported through access to specialty care via visiting providers and telehealth services.

Compensation & Benefits:

Compensation salary: 1.0 FTE:

$146,793 to $163,103 based on years of experience, with an additional $12,000 Site Supervisor Stipend, productivity, quality incentives, and excess call pay.

Financial incentives:

$27,500 Geographic Differential, $30,000 Sign-On Bonus, and $20,000 Relocation Assistance with a three-year contract.

Schedule and Work-Life Balance:

Workweek:

Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with telemedicine included.

Call Schedule:

~15 days monthly shared after hours call. Call coverage in excess of the monthly expectation of five days of call per month is compensated at $500 per call shift. 

Generous Time Off:

33 days (264 hours) annually, including holidays, and 10 additional days of CME.

Practice Details:

Clinic facilities: Sole Provider:

1:1 Medical Assistant, Community Health Aid, and Patient Care Coordinator for support. With a traveling MD once per quarter. 2 exam spaces to include one treatment room. Ancillary services include point of care laboratory services and ultrasound.

Patient Volume:

5-10 patients per day in clinic, plus 3 half days of administrative time weekly. EMR and tools include Meditech, Dragon Dictation, and DAX AI assisted documentation.

Procedure opportunities:

Minor wound repair, punch biopsies, women’s health, and abscesses.

Hospital Capabilities:

Medical Evacuations to nearby Juneau or Sitka.

Qualifications:

Two years of post-graduate experience required. Four years preferred.

State of Alaska Medical License as an NP or PA

Maintains active, unrestricted DEA registration.

Maintains active SEARHC medical staff privileges.

BLS ACLS, ATLS, PALS required

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

Provides comprehensive primary care including, but not limited to, diagnosis, treatment, minor procedures, coordination of care, referral, preventative care, and health maintenance to a dedicated panel of patients.

Participates fully in shared local urgent/emergent care on-call rotation.

Maintains accurate and timely documentation of services is accordance with SEARHC policy.

Provides optimal patient experience using strong listening and communication skills.

Builds long-term patient care relationships.

Consults SEARHC physician as needed for patient care and uses other access to specialists as needed (i.e., AristaMD, ANMC providers, etc.).

Provides medical services at facilities within thea SEARHC care network and other facilities and locations listed in SEARHC’s compact and funding agreement with the Indian Health Service.

Actively participates in SEARHC quality patient care initiatives and quality assurance programs.

Actively participates in provider meetings, clinic meetings, and SEARHC medical staff functions.

Other Functions

Depending upon the location and needs of the community served, participates in shared after-hours emergency call coverage.

Basic emergency care and protocol where appropriate

Standards of care, EMTALA, HIPAA, health care risk management principles, medical ethics, and medical malpractice principles
