What you will be doing:
This Public Health Nurse (PHN) 5 provides statewide clinical leadership and oversight for Maternal Child Health and Immunizations, ensuring consistent, evidence-based public health nursing practice across the Section. This position directly supervises the Section’s Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), Preparedness PHNs, and Nurse Consultants, providing clinical direction, consultation, and support for specialized programs and services. As a member of the leadership team, the PHN5 coordinates priority clinical initiatives, promotes standardization and quality improvement, and works collaboratively with Public Health Nurses, Senior Leadership, and internal and external partners to advance statewide public health priorities.

The working environment you can expect:
This PHN5 works primarily in an office setting located within a Public Health Center or the Central Office. As a member of the Section of Public Health Nursing (SOPHN) leadership team, this position works closely with Senior Leadership, Public Health Nurses, APRNs, Nurse Consultants, and other staff across the Section. The position also collaborates with other Division of Public Health sections, state and community partners, healthcare organizations, and other agencies to coordinate statewide clinical programs, strengthen partnerships, and support consistent delivery of public health services.

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska;

Master’s degree in nursing, public health, healthcare services, healthcare administration, or a closely related field;

Candidates not currently licensed by the State of Alaska, who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska and requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities, may apply for vacancies in this job class. Applicants qualifying under this option may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of RN licensure will be required prior to appointment and reporting for duty.
