Position Summary: Manager, Support + Recovery Programs
The Program Manager, Support + Recovery will increase the number of Alaskans able to experience recovery from eating disorders through family/caregiver and other support programs for ongoing eating disorder recovery. They are a steady, welcoming presence for loved ones walking alongside someone with an eating disorder, offering support and resources, and coordinating events and activities.
This is a role for someone who can build or expand a program and keep it moving independently, and who also enjoys being part of a small close team. They’ll balance the heart of our work, supporting people through hard moments, with details that keep programs running well and interest in growing ways AKEDA can best serve those in need. Special emphasis is placed on reaching Alaskans in geographically isolated and underserved communities, where eating disorders support is most challenging.
This position is funded through the Rural Health Transformation Program and SAMHSA. Grant activities help strengthen local networks of eating disorder care.
This position will:
Connect Alaskans with the support, information, and resources they need for support and recovery from an eating disorder
Develop and deliver caregiver psychoeducation and skillbuilding programming alongside AKEDA clinical advisors
Build relationships that help inform new support group offerings
Plan and coordinate a peer support conference, including logistics, speakers, and communications with participants
Recruit and enroll family and caregiver participants, and stay in touch to keep them connected over time
Manage volunteer peer support group facilitators and peer navigators
Cultivate direct relationships with Alaska eating disorder care providers
Collect and maintain participant data according to a project data collection plan
Support parts of grants management
Take part in community outreach activities, communications and resource materials development, recruitment to AKEDA Speakers Bureau, and AKEDA engagement events
Help foster a team culture of collaboration and high-quality work
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, behavioral health, or related field, and/or experience in peer support, behavioral health, social work, or closely related field
Experience supporting individuals and families navigating mental illness or complex health conditions
Strong facilitation and group leadership skills, with the warmth to build trust quickly
Personal or professional experience with eating disorders or other complex mental health conditions, and a commitment to services shaped by lived experience
Self-direction and an ability to plan and carry out both short- and long-term goals
Comfort with Google Workspace and other common collaborative work tools
Physical Requirements
Job is performed in an office or home office setting with extended periods of sitting, exposure to computer screens, and may require extensive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. The work described herein is primarily modern office work.
Occasional lifting, moving, and carrying.
Many people in historically or socially excluded or oppressed bodies and those with lived experience, neurodivergence, or perfectionist characteristics are less likely to apply when they feel they don’t meet every attribute. Please still consider offering your application if you don’t meet stated requirements and qualifications, but feel you offer something unique for this position.
