The Department of Corrections, Division of Health & Rehabilitation Services, is recruiting for a Physician Assistant/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse 1 position at the Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC) located in Mackenzie Point, AK.

What You Will Be Doing:

As a provider, you will care for the emergent, urgent and chronic care needs of inmates. There is nursing support staff 24 hours per day. You will act as the liaison between the correctional facility, local physicians and hospitals. You will prescribe Schedule II-V drugs as appropriate in accordance with State licensing requirements and the prescriptive authority by the Alaska Board of Nursing or the Alaska Medical Board.

The Department of Corrections is constitutionally and statutorily mandated to provide for the health and welfare of offenders committed to the custody of AK DOC.  In an ambulatory care setting, the Division of Health and Rehabilitation Services (HARS) provides essential healthcare in secure facilities that serve sentenced and unsentenced offenders ages 16 and older.  HARS also provides infirmary care to offenders who are pre- and post-op or who have medical conditions that require a higher level of care.
