The Department of Corrections, Division of Health & Rehabilitation Services, is recruiting for a Physician Assistant/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse 1 position located in our Wildwood Correctional Center (WCC) in Kenai, AK.

What you will be doing:

The Department of Corrections, Division of Health & Rehabilitation Services, is recruiting for a Physician Assistant/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse 1 position located in our Wildwood Correctional Center located in Kenai, AK.

As a provider, you will care for the emergent, urgent and chronic care needs of inmates. There is nursing support staff 24 hours per day. You will act as the liaison between the correctional facility, local physicians and hospitals. You will prescribe Schedule II-V drugs as appropriate in accordance with State licensing requirements and the prescriptive authority by the Alaska Board of Nursing or the Alaska Medical Board.

The nursing staff and providers work in tandem to provide medical care for inmates within a correctional facility clinic. All facets of inmate care are coordinated through facility security in a safe environment.

Public Health:  Applies knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, methods, and tools associated with protecting and improving the health of people and their communities, including, promoting healthy lifestyles, researching disease and/or injury prevention, and/or detecting, preventing, and responding to infectious diseases.

Technology Application:  Uses machines, tools, instruments, or equipment effectively; uses computers and computer applications to analyze and communicate information in the appropriate format.

Teamwork: Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals.

Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
