Office of Children's Services (OCS)
is
recruiting for full-time
Office Assistant 2
located in
Anchorage, Alaska.
What You Will Be Doing
The Office Assistant 2 is the clerical support to the OCS Anchorage Regional foster care licensing team. Primarily the individual selected will provide for child safety in foster homes by: assisting to process background fingerprint checks for foster applicants; utilizing the NABCS database to ensure fingerprints are tracked and information is continually updated, organizing and filing closed files, assisting with certified mailing, filing licensing paperwork, copying, scanning, data entry and occasional Resource family recruitment participation as well as other support duties to the Department as necessary.

Working Environment You Can Expect
This position is located in the University Center Mall off of Old Seward, with occasional work done out of the Anchorage Regional Office 5 minutes down Tudor and both are within walking distance to amenities and restaurants. Join our team as we partner with community members to establish safe and stable homes for vulnerable children and youth needing temporary or permanent care. We offer multiple skill development opportunities, both in person and virtual, in the fields of clerical support, customer service, systems operations and awareness of culture and race. Special Note
All positions require a successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a criminal records check.
Additionally, while the Division does have vehicles assigned to it, they may not always be available for staff use. Mileage reimbursement is available when a personal vehicle is used for work-related matters. Current automotive insurance must be in place prior to use of a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the State.
The successful candidate may be required to attend multiple training courses normally located in Anchorage.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).
Special Note:
"High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
Some position in this class may require skill in typing. Recruitment and selection may include this requirement.
