The Department of Administration, Division of Personnel is seeking a long-term non-permanent Office Assistant 2 in Juneau.
What You Will Be Doing
The Division of Personnel Non-Permanent Office Assistant 2 will examine and scan physical file documents. The incumbent will provide necessary clerical services that require determining administrative and/or programmatic tasks to be completed, prioritizing work, and deciding the appropriate action to be taken based on interpretation and application of the organization`s programs, policies, and regulations. The incumbent will digitally archive Personnel files, Classification files, and potentially some additional physical files in several of our office spaces.

The Working Environment You Can Expect
This position is physically located in the Juneau State Office Building at 333 Willoughby Avenue and potentially at one of our other office located at 410 Willoughby Avenue. The Division of Personnel provides a work environment that successfully engages employees to work independently, as well as collaboratively on a team. This position is not suitable for telework.

Clerical:
applies knowledge of clerical equipment and software, processes, techniques, and professional standards to complete routine office work to generally accepted professional standards. Completes work independently with minimal supervision. Uses skills and abilities to complete tasks consisting of many different and connected parts, including deciding which processes to use.
Computer Skills:
Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
Attention To Detail:
sees and pays attention to details; recognizes the component parts of a procedure or object, and can verify correctness or error in an individual part or procedure.
Reading Comprehension:
Comprehends and correctly applies information presented in written form. Makes correct inferences; draws accurate conclusions.
Oral Communication:
Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).
Special Note:
"High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
Some position in this class may require skill in typing. Recruitment and selection may include this requirement.
