What you will be doing

The Occupational Therapist provides individual and group occupational rehabilitative therapy programs through directed activities to residents experiencing physical or mental disabilities or disorders. This position will plan, organize, supervise, direct, and administer occupational programs and rehabilitation treatments in an effort to promote, maintain, or restore physical and mental health and the functional independence of residents to prepare them for community re-integration.

This position is primarily at the McLaughlin Youth Center on Providence Drive in Anchorage. We take pride in working well with local entities including police departments and courts, district attorneys, school districts, and residential and community based treatment providers. Minimum Qualifications

Licensure by the State of Alaska to practice as an Occupational Therapist is required per AS 08.84.090.

Substitution: A conditional offer of employment may be given to an applicant holding a temporary permit (regulated under the provisions set out in AS 08.84.065 and 12 AAC 54.640.) to substitute for a license for the duration of the permit.

Special Note: Incumbents work with physically and/or mentally impaired or debilitated individuals. Most positions require the physical ability to assist the clients with gross motor skill and fine motor skill activities.

For some positions in this job class a background investigation including fingerprinting is required.
