What you will be doing:

In this position, you will make a meaningful impact by conducting professional, face-to-face nursing assessments for individuals applying for or participating in Medicaid waiver and state plan programs. Working under the general direction of  Nurse III, you will travel statewide to homes, hospitals, nursing facilities, and other care settings to evaluate people with a wide range of complex health conditions using standardized assessment tools. You’ll complete comprehensive assessments to determine Nursing Facility Level of Care and Level of Service, and you’ll review Support Plans for the Children with Complex Medical Conditions waiver to identify needed nursing and personal care services.

You’ll also process Nursing Home stay authorization requests, including PASRR evaluations, while monitoring program requirements to ensure continuity and compliance. Collaboration is central, as you’ll work closely with internal and external partners to ensure appropriate service delivery and resolve issues that could affect participant care. At times, you may also respond to medical emergencies in the field and initiate EMS when necessary.

Frequent Travel is required for this position.

The working environment you can expect

This postion is located in Anchorage at 1835 Bragaw Street, Suite 350.

This location is convenient to local shops, restaurants, and trails.

This position is scheduled for a 7.5-hour workday; start and stop times can be flexible between 8 am and 5:00 pm.

Upon completion of three months of working in the office, the employee may elect to utilize telework opportunities, according to department policy.

Special Notices

This position requires frequent travel (1 to 3 times a month) to remote areas of Alaska via small aircraft.

A valid and current Alaska driver's License is required at the time of appointment.

A background check will be required for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

Incumbent must be a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed to practice in the State of Alaska.

AND

One year of entry-level experience as a Registered Nurse. Examples of this experience include, but are not limited to, prior service as a Nurse 1, Corrections Nurse 1, or Psychiatric Nurse 1 with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer.

Substitution:

Combinations of prior training and experience as a Registered Nurse in other specializations of nursing care (e.g., Psychiatric, Corrections, Public Health, Critical Care, Surgical) will be evaluated for comparability on a case-by-case basis.

Special Note:

Applicants who have or obtain a temporary permit issued under 12 AAC 44.320 may report for duty; however, the job offer will remain conditional for a

time frame

not to exceed six months, pending the applicant showing proof of licensure during their

initial

probationary period.

Some positions may require the successful applicant to pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, as a prerequisite to employment. These requirements will be

indicated

at the time of recruitment.

Some positions may require the successful applicant to provide proof that they are free from active pulmonary tuberculosis at the time of hire. Employees
