What you will be doing
P
rofessionally maintain all light duty equipment and vehicles associated with the construction and maintenance of secondary roads, rural airports and other user agency vehicles being operated in the area.
Incumbents will be required to perform routine and specialized maintenance and repairs requiring the ability to recognize and diagnose problems or potential problems during preventative maintenance services.
Incumbents are required to make repairs to gasoline and diesel engines, identify all parts and materials needed for jobs, identify and order from parts manuals through the local parts depot, and document their time and materials on workorders.
The incumbent, at a minimum, must be able to diagnose, maintain, repair, and modify the following systems: Transmission and drive trains, suspension, engine and emission systems, including fuel injection systems, hydraulic systems, brakes including air, electrical for light and heavy-duty equipment.

The working environment you can expect
This position is at the Fairbanks shop, 2301 Peger Road, Fairbanks, AK.
Some travelling in small planes to maintain and repair vehicles in remote locations is possible in this position. Travel consists of day trips and overnight stays.
