The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Mechanic, Automotive, Advanced Journey/Lead at Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC) located in Mackenzie Point, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Foreman, the primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, diagnosing and overhauling all vehicles, heavy equipment and small engines.

Developing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program for machines and equipment to include oil changes, transmission fluid and filter changes, checking coolant levels, brake fluid, power steering fluid, air filters, fuel filters, tire pressure, and wiper blades and keeping accurate service records.

Operating and inspecting machines and heavy equipment in order to diagnose defects and system failures. Determine best way to correct problems, obtain quotes for parts and submit for approval.

Maintaining warranty records on all vehicles and machines to ensure warranties are maintained on a set schedule.

Assisting with general grounds keeping and snow removal as needed inside and outside the perimeter fences of facility
