Provides overall administrative and clinical leadership for one or more SEARHC Dental clinics. Serves as the senior dental professional for the clinic, with responsibilities for the assessment, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of direct and contract resources for dental services. Provides administrative and clinical supervision of Dentists, Hygienists, and Dental Therapists, and provides administrative supervision of all other dental staff assigned to the site. Engages team by planning, assigning, evaluating, and directing work, assuring adequate training of employees, and exercising administrative control in carrying out program policies. Managing Dentist will oversee day-to day flow, including daily office oversight and provision of direction and guidance to staff as needed, oversee front desk operations, staff scheduling, and patient flow. Participates as a provider (infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric) and consultant for SEARHC.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

Responsible for achieving strategic goals and metrics set forth by the Director of Dental Services and/or Dental Practice Administrator. 

Provide administrative supervision for all team members assigned to the clinic including resolving employee concerns, encouraging teamwork, overseeing the disciplinary process, conducting standing meetings to promote communication, and performing annual performance reviews for assigned employees.

Provide clinical supervision to all dentists, dental therapists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants.

Collaborate with visiting providers to ensure their ability to provide excellent patient care.

Oversee and ensure smooth day-to-day operation and clinical flow of the assigned clinic, including employee scheduling.

Oversee front desk operations including patient registration, patient check-in and check-out, answering the clinic phone line, training and supervising Office Coordinator and/or Patient Access Representatives,

Coordinate and supervise the development and maintenance of clinic schedules to ensure consistent clinic coverage and efficient patient scheduling.

Identify team training needs and provide feedback to Senior Leadership

Run and review assigned reports and discuss with Dental Practice Administrator or designee.

Ensure completion of assigned administrative work such as inputting IT tickets, work orders, building maintenance requests, vendor relations, and special projects as assigned.

Lead staff meetings.

Performs additional duties assigned by Director of Dental Services or other proper authority.

Provide direct patient care, including village/ field travel.

Administrative supervision is provided by the SEARHC Director of Dental Services and Dental Practice Administrator

Education,

Certifications, and Licenses Required

DDS or DMD degree from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

Certificate from an accredited dental residency program highly preferred.

Active Dental License in the USA

.  Alaska license preferred within 2 years if not USPHS

BLS required

Experience Required

5+ years of work experience as a dentist.

2+ years of management experience preferred.

2+ years of work within tribal practice preferred.

Knowledge of

In-depth knowledge in a health care administration setting including staffing and clinic organization, scheduling, and patient flow.

Should have a working knowledge of the revenue cycle, facilities management, and other infrastructure areas impacting the clinic.

Knowledge of applicable certification and accreditation processes.

Knowledge of liability and risk management principles.

Working knowledge of proper infection control techniques
