What you will be doing:

This position performs tasks to construct, troubleshoot, repair and maintain State facilities within the guidelines of current State Statutes and codes in the most efficient and economical manner possible. Through maintenance and repair, protect the State`s building assets, improve structure longevity and provide for safety and comfort of the building occupants and members of the public.

The working environment you can expect:

This position is based out of an office in Fairbanks and will provide general maintenance support for DOT&PF buildings and facilities primarily in Fairbanks but throughout Northern Region.

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, installation, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and/or experience providing the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully and independently perform assignments that are typical of the occupational field.

Essential Core Competencies:

Knowledge of basic mathematics and the safe and proper use and care of tools common to equipment and building maintenance.?

Ability to locate and use shop and manufacturer’s reference books and manuals;?perform limited construction and maintenance repairs using appropriate tools;?perform minor maintenance and repair on hand and power tools and equipment used in the work;?perform physically demanding work;?read and write; follow and apply written and oral directions and safety sheets;?complete written reports, e.g., time sheets, incident reports, material requests;?learn and safely handle construction, maintenance wastes and hazardous materials;?and respond to emergency situations following established procedures.?
