The Lead Clinician (Behavioral Health) stands as a critical figure in the journey toward mental wellness and improved life quality. This job description aims to shed light on the multifaceted responsibilities and skills required for this demanding yet profoundly rewarding profession. As mental health continues to gain recognition for its essential role in overall well-being, the need for dedicated and compassionate professionals in behavioral health services has never been more pronounced. From individualized patient assessments and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to collaborative treatment planning and outcome evaluation, the scope of a Behavioral Clinician’s duties is both broad and impactful. This role emphasizes empowerment, mutual respect, and culturally competent support tailored to Ketchikan and surrounding community member’s needs.
The position is both clinical and administrative. The Lead Clinician serves as a central coordinator supporting the clinical and programmatic functions of behavioral health services. This role includes on program coordination, documentation oversight, and ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
This position is part of a growing behavioral health program, and as with any start-up effort, roles and responsibilities may evolve as services are developed and community needs are prioritized. This position will play an important role in helping shape and build a program that reflects the values, strengths, and needs of the Ketchikan community. Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or similar licensure in Alaska or the ability to become licensed
Minimum 7 -10 years experience in a clinical setting providing behavioral health therapy
Minimum 5 years leadership experience including supervisory duties
