What You Will Be Doing
As the Juvenile Probation Officer 5, you will provide senior leadership and oversight for community-based juvenile probation services across Alaska. You will drive statewide policy and program development, lead implementation of system improvement projects. You will collaborate with stakeholders, evaluate data, and conduct research to promote effective services. Reporting directly to division executives, you will manage subordinate probation supervisors, handle personnel matters, and navigate labor relations and progressive discipline.
Grounded in restorative justice, you will champion offender accountability and family development while collaborating closely with partner agencies, communities, Tribal governments, and division leadership. Ultimately, you will serve as a member of the division leadership team to support the safe and effective administration of juvenile probation in Alaska.

The Working Environment You Can Expect
Working primarily from a division office in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Juneau; this position requires some travel around the state (approximately six trips per year) to support field staff and offices. This position provides for flexibility in working hours and situational telework opportunities, although formal-long term teleworking is not available.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in
Psychology:
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and theories of human behavior and performance in various contexts, mental processes, or the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
Financial Management:
Understands the organization's financial processes. Prepares, justifies, and administers the program budget. Oversees procurement and contracting to achieve desired results. Monitors expenditures and uses cost-benefit thinking to set priorities.
Performance Measurement:
Knowledge of the principles and methods for evaluating program or organizational performance using financial and nonfinancial measures, including identification of evaluation factors (for example, workload, personnel requirements), metrics, and outcomes.

Training in counseling, education, corrections, criminal justice, the behavioral sciences, public administration, or a closely related field and/or progressively responsible professional experience developing, coordinating, implementing, supervising, or managing a juvenile detention unit, treatment unit, or professional juvenile probation officers; an institutional or transport unit for an adult correctional facility; or probation work involving individuals incarcerated in a correctional institution or who are on parole or probation while in the community.
