The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Workers Compensation, is recruiting for an

Investigator 1/2/3 located in Anchorage!

This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 14/16/18.

What You Will Be Doing:

This position is flexibly staffed and may be filled at the Investigator 1, Investigator 2, or Investigator 3 level, depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. Work progresses from routine investigations performed with close supervision at the Investigator 1 level, to independent journey-level work at Investigator 2, and to unusual, difficult, or exceptionally complex investigations at Investigator 3.

Investigate reports of employers operating without required workers’ compensation insurance and allegations of workers’ compensation fraud using interviews, records research, databases, and field work.

Analyze payroll, insurance, employment, business, financial, medical, and other records to determine compliance, identify violations, and develop evidence.

Prepare investigative reports, petitions, discovery requests, subpoenas, hearing materials, exhibits, and other documentation, and provide factual testimony regarding investigations personally conducted.

Work with employers, employees, witnesses, insurers, attorneys, and Local, State, and Federal partners to obtain information, coordinate investigative activity, and support appropriate enforcement action.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

This position is based in the Division of Workers’ Compensation office in midtown Anchorage and combines office-based research and case preparation with field work such as interviews, site visits, service of documents, and other investigative activity. The position requires local driving and occasional statewide travel, which may include remote locations, inclement weather, and travel by small aircraft or boat when necessary.
