Inventory Control Clerk

Summary or Purpose

Receive, store, and issue materials, equipment, and other items from stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. Keep records and compile stock reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using computer.

Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.

Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.  Cycle Count.

Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouse, tool room, supply room, or other areas.

Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.

Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.

Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.

Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.

Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers.

Provide assistance with filling work order requirements to all NSB maintenance employees.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures.

Skill in computerized inventory program.

Ability to communicate to others to convey information effectively.

Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).

Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses Required

High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.

One year of work experience in a warehouse;

One year of work experience using computers;

Demonstrated ability to lift 70 lbs regularly.
