The Internal Communications Specialist serves as a member of the Marketing and Communications Department and reports to the Director of Communications. This role supports the planning, development, execution, and evaluation of internal communications initiatives that inform, engage, and connect SEARHC employees across Southeast Alaska.

opywriting
Write, edit, and proofread high-quality internal communications, including executive messages, leadership communications, newsletters, intranet content, email campaigns, presentations, and employee-facing announcements.
Translate complex or technical information into clear, concise, and engaging communications tailored to specific employee audiences.
Review content for clarity, accuracy, grammar, readability, brand alignment, and compliance considerations.
Communications Planning and Channel Management
Support the development and execution of internal communication plans that align with organizational priorities, business objectives, operational updates, and change management initiatives.
Manage and maintain designated internal communication channels, including intranet, newsletters, and employee communication tools.
Build and maintain a pipeline of story ideas, content opportunities, and reusable messaging that can support multiple internal communications channels.
Coordinate communication schedules and editorial calendars to ensure timely and consistent messaging.
Gather information from subject matter experts, internal teams, and approved sources to create accurate and meaningful content.
Develop clear and compelling stories, articles, newsletter content, intranet copy, and other communications that highlight programs, key projects, and organizational initiatives.
Analytics and Reporting
Track and analyze communication metrics to assess effectiveness, engagement, and audience reach.
Prepare reports and recommendations that inform future communication strategies and continuous improvement efforts.
Monitor employee feedback and communication trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
Employee Engagement Support
Support employee engagement and recognition initiatives through communication planning, promotional support, and event coordination.
Assist with planning and execution of employee meetings, town halls, special events, and recognition activities.
Brand and Governance Stewardship
Ensure all communications adhere to brand guidelines and tone of voice standards.
Support consistency in messaging across internal materials.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not require direct supervisory responsibilities.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
Experience Required
Three or more years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, employee communications, or a related field
Strong professional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences and channels
Experience developing newsletters, articles, email communications, web content, or other audience-facing communications
Knowledge of
Microsoft Office
Healthcare experience is preferred
Content management and project management tools (i.e., SharePoint, WordPress, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, Asana,
Monday.com
) is preferred
Basic understanding of design/layout principles and experience working with approved templates or collaborating with designers preferred
Skills in
Professional writing, editing, and proofreading
Interviewing subject matter experts and gathering information
Content planning and communications project management
Managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Building collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders
Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Using content management systems, intranet platforms, and email marketing tools.
