Ice Arena Operations Assistant (6 Month Temp)

Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in the operations of the ice arena.

Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.

Please Note: This position is a 6 Month Temporary Assignment from Date of Hire.

Pay Grade

J1 - J5 - DOE

Minimum Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.

Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the occupational field, sufficient to understand the major duties of the position, and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems. Related experience includes: Ice arena experience, Zamboni/Olympia operating experience, facility maintenance, janitorial experience, skate sharpening, cash handling and customer service.

Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Must be at least 19 years of age with one (1) year of driving experience.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical.

Duties/Responsibilities

Assists the Ice Arena Manager with the day-to-day operations of the arena.

Opens and closes facility as assigned; secures facility at end of day.

Reconciles cash register receipts.

Promotes programs and services to the general public.

Promotes, plans, and assists the public in the areas of scheduling and registering for adult hockey leagues.

Repairs and maintains mechanical equipment.

Maintains and repairs ice surface.

Repairs and maintains facility.

Cleans restrooms and locker rooms.

Sharpens skate blades.

Participates in snow removal operations.

Maintains arena grounds.

Performs related duties.
