Housekeeper

Part-Time, Regular - starting pay is $21.00 per hour. Under the general direction of the Assistant Manager, the primary functions of this position are to clean rooms and halls in the hotels by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

Sorts, counts, folds, mark or carry linens.

Makes beds.

Replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses and writing supplies.

Moves furniture, hangs drapes, and rolls carpets.

Cleans lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways.

Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor.

Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.

Dusts furniture.

Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork.

Washes windows, door panels, and sills.

Empties wastebaskets and empties and cleans ashtrays.

Transports trash and waste to disposal area.

Replenishes bathroom supplies.

Replaces light bulbs.

Maintains a clean, safe, hazard free work environment at all times.

Courteously and promptly responds to guest requests.

Providing excellent customer service

Works harmoniously and professionally with coworkers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture.

High school or equivalent certification.

Physical fitness to perform cleaning and heavy lifting assignments.

Previous background should include demonstrated ability to deal with the general public.

Must be able to work independently and must be willing to work shifts that vary from day to night and operate seven days a week.

The ability to speak and understand the Inupiaq language is important and preferred.
