This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range.
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties
The Facilities Coordinator supervises all library facilities staff and activities including maintenance, janitorial, facility and security services for the library. Serves as department liaison for Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) Risk, Facilities Management, Safety, and Security departments, and Facility Manager for all locations of the library. Manages and oversees contracts. Evaluates, plans and develops facility needs driven by technological, programmatic or other service changes. Works with appropriate municipal departments, contractors and vendors for building maintenance and security. Works with library and MOA staff on capital projects. Purchases items through the SAP city software or through credit card purchases, including reconciling purchases. Ensures that Anchorage Public Library (APL) meets ADA and OSHA standards. Oversees building safety. Trains APL staff on safety and security. Develops and researches safety and security educational opportunities for training and distribution to staff. Communicates effectively to Library Director and provides updates to appropriate staff. Provides written and verbal reports to staff and administrators. Establishes and maintains effective relations with co-workers, the public and vendors; treats everyone with honesty, respect and fairness to build an environment of trust; contributes to a collaborative, committed and collegial work environment. Required to work independently and final decisions are reviewed by the Library Director or Assistant Director
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
High school diploma, GED or equivalent and
six

) years of experience in the field related to the position. Employment is conditional based on a satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history.
OR
Associate’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and
four

) years of experience in the field related to the position. Employment is conditional based on a satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and
two

) years of experience in the field related to the position. Employment is conditional based on a satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history.
Must possess and/or obtain:
Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire
Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License and satisfactory Driving Record at time of hire.
Preferred
:
One year experience managing facilities.
Experience working with contractors.
