THIS RECRUITMENT IS FOR DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION EMPLOYEES ONLY

This position is being recruited for in Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla, Fairbanks, or Juneau.

Pay will be determined based on

location

of selected individual.

Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla salary: $3,119.25

Fairbanks salary: $3,213.00

Juneau salary: $3,275.25

What you will be doing:

Provides technical leadership for the Division of Air Quality by interpreting complex air quality regulations, analyzing scientific information, and developing statewide strategies that support compliance with state and federal standards.

Produces plain-language fact sheets, technical documentation, regulatory guidance, and public messaging that translate complex scientific and regulatory concepts for diverse audiences.

Leads and manages Air Quality web content, ensuring accurate, up-to-date technical information, data, and regulatory materials are accessible to the public and stakeholders.

Organizes and facilitates technical workshops, stakeholder briefings, and advisory groups, and advises management on emerging regulatory or scientific issues.

Coordinates program communication and outreach across agencies, supports regulatory decision-making, and develops internal training on communication, media engagement, and risk messaging.

This position is directly responsible for improving communications inside and outside the Department, translating technical information to the public, and helping message the important work of DEC to a diverse audience.

The working environment you can expect:

This position will be filled inside Alaska based on the location of the best candidate. All office locations offer a collaborative atmosphere. The incumbent will generally work in a hybrid telework or office setting. Under general direction, this position performs a variety of functions associated with supervision, management, delegation, and leadership to achieve the goals and requirements associated with implementing state and federal air quality rules and regulations.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an environmental, physical, biological, or natural science; engineering; planning; or natural resources.

AND

Professional experience evaluating, documenting, and monitoring environmental and socio-economic impacts of changes in the built environment or applying environmental regulations and pollution controls for damage recovery or to protect or improve environmental quality.

Additional Required Information
