is looking for an Engineer/Architect 2/3 located Juneau, Alaska to help us

Base Salary Information:

Engineer/Architect 2: $4,340.00 /

Biweekly (OT Ineligible)

Engineer/Architect 3: $4,974.40 /

Biweekly (OT Ineligible)

What you will be doing:

Engineer/Architect 2:

(Range 23)

This position supports the Southcoast Region Materials Section, overseeing geotechnical engineering, hydraulics engineering, engineering geology, pavement engineering, and GIS staff while reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Chief. At the Engineer/Architect 2 level, this position is responsible for supporting acquisition and evaluation of geological, geotechnical, hydrological and pavement data required for highway and airport improvements. Day to day efforts include supervising and mentoring professional and sub-professional engineering, geology, and GIS staff, schedule accountability for work products, coordinating with Departmental and agency personnel on Materials Section responsibilities, representing the Materials Section as they relate to the overall federal and state Highway and Aviation programs, and managing technical design projects.

Engineer/Architect 3:

(Range 25)

At the Engineer/Architect 3 level, this position is responsible for directing, planning, supervising, and approving the acquisition and evaluation of geological, geotechnical, hydrological and pavement data required for highway and airport improvements. Day to day efforts include supervising and mentoring professional and sub-professional engineering, geology, and GIS staff, schedule accountability for work products, coordinating with Departmental and agency personnel on Materials Section responsibilities, representing the Materials Section as they relate to the overall federal and state Highway and Aviation programs, and managing technical design projects.

Who we are looking for:

To be successful in this position, the selected applicant will possess the following core competencies:

Civil Engineering:

Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain facilities such as buildings, transportation systems, water and sanitary systems, and other public works systems.

Project Management:

Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.

Technical Competence:

Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues.

Managing Human Resources:

Plans, distributes, coordinates, and monitors work assignments of others; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance; ensures that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed, and that they are treated in a fair and equitable manner.

Teamwork:

Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals.

Special Note:

Valid Driver's License is required.

Registration as a Professional Engineer, State of Alaska

Requires occasional travel to project sites within the coastal region of Alaska (several trips during Spring/Summer/Fall). This may include flying to remote communities in small aircraft with infrequent need for overnight stays with minimal accommodations. Includes site inspections which can occur in adverse weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications

Engineer/Architect 2:

Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect, and one year of professional experience as an Engineer/Architect 1 or Engineering Associate with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent.

Special Note:

Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.

Engineer/Architect 3:

Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect, and three years of professional engineering or architectural experience (Engineer/Architect series), or the equivalent.
