Employment Services Technician 3 located in Fairbanks!

What You Will Be Doing:

The Employment Services Technician 3 (EST 3) is a supervisory position located at the Fairbanks Job Center and serves under the direct supervision of the Fairbanks Employment Services Manager 2 (ESM 2). This position provides supervision, direction, leadership and programmatic support to Employment Services Technician 1s and 1/2s. The EST functions at full proficiency level, supervising the performance of a variety of assignments directly related to the administration of Wagner-Peyser services, including job seeker and employer services, proctoring services, workshop services, and career guide services. This EST position is customer-service driven as well as supervisory and involves extensive contact with the public and staff via phone, email, video communication as well as face to face.

The Employment Services Technician 3 is stationed in the Fairbanks Regional Office Building (FROB), 675 7th Avenue, Station B. Our building has free covered parking with electrical plug-ins and sits adjacent to Veteran’s Memorial Park in beautiful downtown Fairbanks. The work week for this position is Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day between the hours of 8am - 5pm.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of experience as an Employment Services Technician 2 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere.

OR

Two years of experience as an Employment Services Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere.

OR

Three years of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.

Applicants must currently work in the department that is being recruited for and have held or currently hold permanent employment status in any position in the classified service as defined in

Alaska Statute 39.25.100

. Permanent employment status is defined as holding permanent status in ANY job class in the current period of employment with no break in service (separation from State of Alaska employment) since the permanent status was earned.

DRIVER’S LICENSE REQUIREMENT

Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license. Proof of licensure will be required prior to reporting to duty.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF INTERVIEW

A list of three (3) professional references, one of which should be your most recent supervisor, including name, job title, employer, and a current daytime phone number(s).

A copy of your last two (2) performance evaluations. If performance evaluations are unavailable, provide two (2) professional letters of recommendation from someone other than your three (3) professional references.

A copy of your current, valid Driver's License.
