What you will be doing:

As an Eligibility Technician 2 (ET2) in the Long-Term Care Unit, you will undergo formal training on various programs managed by the Division.  As an ET2, you will be expected to demonstrate extensive knowledge, proficiency, and the ability to work independently and efficiently while managing a diverse and sizable caseload under general supervision. You will develop expertise in program policies, enabling you to make independent, complex eligibility decisions and apply your understanding of multiple program manuals to ensure eligibility criteria are met across various programs.

This position is part of a statewide eligibility team within the Long-Term Care Unit, located in Public Assistance offices across Alaska.

Eligibility Determinations:

Knowledge of federal and/or state government or public assistance benefit regulations, policies, and procedures is required to evaluate financial, personal, medical, and household information to determine program eligibility, authorize benefits, and maintain case records within mandatory timeframes.

Attention to Detail:

Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Computer Skills:

Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

Problem Solving

: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Oral and Written Communication

: Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
