What you will be doing:

In this role, the Eligibility Technician 1 is an entry-level eligibility position that handles case management and workflow, with limited interpretation and application of policies and procedures. As the first point of contact for clients across all access points (e.g., Virtual Contact Center, lobby, and non-lobby), the ET1 performs entry-level technical eligibility determination work that requires attention to detail following policies, regulations, and processes to ensure Alaskans in need receive timely determinations of benefits, correct information, and guidance to resources.

This position joins a statewide eligibility workflow team in local Public Assistance offices across the state. You will work with other well-trained staff who support our agency’s mission and values, in an environment of mutual respect and trust where management believes staff is the agency’s most valuable resource and is encouraged to participate in decisions affecting their work.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of experience that included:

applying statutes, regulations, program requirements, or similar criteria or guidelines in order to process, review, and evaluate such documents as applications for employment, programs or services, loans, licenses, and/or permits; documents associated with insurance or employment benefit enrollment or claims, investigations or collections; and/or tax processing, investment, real estate transactions, or similar work.

AND/OR

Experience that included extensive person-to-person contact performing such work as explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements; eliciting or exchanging information as related to requirements or procedures; providing formal or informal instruction or training to people; and/or interviewing or counseling individuals, or performing similar work.

Substitution:

Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).

This position is currently under review as part of the Public Assistance Field Services Study; therefore, the title and/or pay range currently assigned may be subject to change upon implementation of this class study.

EDUCATION

To verify education is being used to meet and/or support the required minimum qualifications/competencies, you must fill in the Education section of the application  If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of units completed  Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials used to meet or support the minimum qualifications/competencies for a position and are required with each application  (Unofficial is okay; please ensure the institution/URL name is listed on the transcripts)  Transcripts can be attached at the time of application or provided at the time of interview; if not, transcripts will be required before employment.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR FOREIGN EDUCATION

If education is completed in a foreign college or university, it may be used to meet the above requirements, if applicable. If utilizing this education, you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs or an accredited U.S. state university reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the state university.
