Job Description

This position is open for State of Alaska, Department of Administration Employees Only.

What You Will Be Doing

Under the general direction of the Division Director, this position serves as an assistant to the Director. The Division Operations Manager (DOM) has primary oversight of the Operations Section of the Division of Retirement & Benefits (DRB) and is responsible preparing all reporting for DRB and for long- and short-range operational planning, conducting research and analysis and making recommendations for division operational goals and policies, managing division budgets and resources, and managing and overseeing DRB operational programming and projects. The DOM is also responsible for direct supervision of operational sections to include Administrative Services, Communications, Information Services and IT Project Support.

The Division of Retirement and Benefits administers State of Alaska and political subdivision retirement and benefit plans so that customers experience excellent, accurate, and timely service; and members understand the value of, and effectively manage, their retirement and health benefits. The Operations Team, where you will be working, provides support for the entire Division and works closely with the Director and Deputy Directors to ensure budgetary, personnel, procurement/purchasing, accounting and financial management are consistently accurate.

This position is in the heart of downtown Juneau at the State Office Building on the 6th floor. Ideal applicants will be customer service oriented and can prioritize responsibilities to best suit the needs of the division. Minimum Qualifications

Three years of professional experience in the broad occupational fields of the division or department and two years of supervisory and/or managerial experience, which may be concurrent with the professional experience.

Special Note:

"Professional experience in the broad occupational fields of the division or department," means experience in one of the professional areas that compose the division's purpose and function to ensure the applicant has the knowledge of the work of the division to be managed.

For example, in an administrative services division, qualifying professional experience could be in any one of the professional areas that compose business administration; such as accounting, procurement, human resources, and so on.

In a line division, for example the Division of Mining, Land, & Water in the Department of Natural Resources, qualifying experience could be in any one of the professional areas that provide for the use and protection of Alaska's State-owned land and water, such as geology, hydrology, forestry, natural resource management, and so on.
