The
Alaska Court System
is seeking a motivated and experienced professional to join our Facilities team as the
Deputy Facilities Director (salary range 22).
This position will be based out of the Snowden Administration Building in Anchorage. In this role, you will assist in planning, coordinating, and administering statewide facilities programs that support court operations across Alaska. Responsibilities include managing maintenance, renovation, construction, leasing, and facility improvement projects; overseeing procurement and contract administration; coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies; and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable laws, codes, and court policies. This position also assists with facility assessments, emergency preparedness, continuity planning, and statewide operational support while serving as a key resource for facilities management activities.
The successful candidate will help develop and monitor operating and capital budgets, maintain facility records and project documentation, and identify opportunities to improve processes and operational efficiency. This position provides guidance and support to facilities staff through training, workload coordination, and cross-training initiatives while assisting with succession planning and employee development. An ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities. Please address these in the required letter of interest:
Working knowledge of commercial facilities maintenance and operations including electrical, mechanical, architectural, HVAC, and Direct Digital Controls.
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of contract administration, including organization, planning, budgeting, and reporting.
Knowledge of the tools of project management such as methods development, project scheduling and cost analysis.
Proficient in the use of MS Office software, Adobe Acrobat; general knowledge of software such as AutoCAD, REVIT, MS Visio.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with a wide variety of government officials, contracting agencies, consultants, contractors, architects, engineers, court staff, and court users.
Ability to set goals, monitor progress, and adjust resources to accomplish objectives.
Experience analyzing bids and proposals for specific criteria, cost efficiency, quality, economy, and other related aspects.
Recognize hazardous conditions and take appropriate steps.
Ability and willingness to be on call as needed and travel to remote locations with limited services in small aircraft.

The Work Hours
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
