POSITION SUMMARY

Performs a full range of dental services at the Maniilaq Medical Center Dental Clinic, and on a periodic basis at the Maniilaq Association Services Areas. Reports directly to the Lead Dentist.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Displays a willing and helpful attitude to customers and staff. Professionally communicates in a warm, concerned, caring, and friendly manner over the telephone and in person.

Specific duties and responsibilities are also delineated in employment agreements and privileging approvals through the Medical Staff and Board.

Participates in the training and development of skills of dental assistants.

Participates in the activities of committees, or special initiatives as assigned.

Participates in the development and delivery of programs to enhance the public awareness of dental health promotion, and participates in the surveillance of community water fluoridation programs as assigned.

Participates in programs designed to assure regulatory compliance (CMS and other governing Bodies) required of Maniilaq Health Center and the dental clinic.

Share after hours on-call duties, as well as weekend and holiday duties with other dentist(s). Call-back pay applies.

Provide Supervision for Dental Health Aides.

Required Village Travel a minimum of 1 week/quarter.

Accesses, reads and responds as necessary to written material and e-mail on a daily basis.

Demonstrates discretion in handling confidential information. Maintains confidentiality of patients and hospital-related information.

For Active Staff Category: must have current dental license in one of the United States, and is required to obtain an Alaska Dental License within one year of employment.

Responsible for referral to specialists and follow up for patient(s) as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

DDS/DMD degree from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation

Current BLS certificate

Credentials and privileges approved by Maniilaq Medical Staff and Board of Directors

COMPENSATION:

Increases depending on experience, education and as determined by the hiring manager.
