POSITION SUMMARY

The Dental Clinic Manager provides leadership, management, and support for dental services provided throughout the Region. This position works collaboratively with the Lead Dentist and medical services division team members to ensure quality patient services, clinical excellence, and adherence to company and regulatory policies and procedures. The position is responsible for managing day-to-day clinic operations, supervising dental staff, hiring and training dental staff, managing budgets and payments, and organizing records. Works with both the village communities and health center in coordination of services. Reports directly to the Ancillary Services Director or designee.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensures productive, efficient, and safe day-to-day clinical operations.

Recruits, interviews, hires, and directly supervises dental staff.

Leads the continuous development of staff through mentoring, coaching, training, and supervision; ensuring staff engagement to meet clinic goals.

Assures progress toward clinic goals through weekly departmental meetings.

Collaborates with Lead Dentist in creating department standards and goals.

Collaborates with Maniilaq Business Office to assure payment for services as appropriate and resolve revenue issues as they arise.

Monitors and integrates dental electronic health record (EHR) and scheduling software; serves as dental EHR administrator and appoints super users.

Assist with registering and reporting all radiological equipment in compliance with the Alaska Department of Health.

Responsible for complying with Joint Commission standards, HIPAA, compliance with state and federal regulations, Medicare, Medicaid, Indian Health Services requirements, and other regulations, guidelines, requirements, and statutes as applicable.

Responsible for maintaining and improving clinic cleanliness, organization, and infection control standards.

Oversees and administers the clinic budget. Responsible for proper allocation of funds and insures any necessary justifications for check requests or purchase orders are done.

Oversees ordering and receipt of dental supplies for all sites and assists with locating and establishing vendors for supplies as needed.

Ensure supply rooms are kept stocked, clean, and organized.

Notifies Engineering, Biomedical Service, and other technical support services as needed. Serves as clinic liaison for repairs and upgrades of clinic equipment.

Responsible for scheduling dental services provided throughout the Region.

Responsible for tracking and optimizing employee schedules, village visits, and personal time off.

Prepares and authorizes payroll, and monitors attendance of clinic staff.

Ensures clinical peer reviews, initial and annual employee evaluations, and competencies are completed in a timely fashion.

Responsible for enforcing policies and procedures.

Displays a willing and helpful attitude to patients and staff.  Professionally communicates to staff and patients. Trains staff in customer service and monitors customer concerns/complaints.

Submits reports on time. Responsible for the proper collection of data and analysis of trends. Prepares Health Care Committee reports.

Assists with back-office duties and front desk coverage as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent.  Associate degree (2-year equivalent education) and/or 2 years management/supervisory/ experience.  Familiarity with the efficient/effective provision of dental services.  Must possess strong financial, technical, administrative, organizational and communication skills.
