WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

The Alaska Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking a Criminal Justice Technician 2 to join the Public Information Request and Research Unit’s (PIRRU) Mobile Audio and Video Recording Equipment Team (MAVR). Your responsibilities will include reviewing and redacting body-worn camera and dashcam footage, photos, and 911 audio to fulfill public information requests while protecting the rights of individuals and ensuring department compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and court opinions.

*This position involves reviewing and processing incident files; photo, audio, and video evidence involving sexual assault, sexual abuse of minors, assault, suicide, homicides, etc.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:

This position is in the Alaska Bureau of Investigation building at 5500 E Tudor Rd, Anchorage. The successful applicant will enjoy a team environment, supportive coworkers, encouragement to explore intellectual curiosity, and opportunities to develop and improve hard and soft skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of training under a formally established Criminal Justice Technician 1-2 flexible staffing training plan with the State of Alaska;

OR

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

BACKGROUND CHECK

This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check.  Due to the sensitive nature of this position, and required access to APSIN, an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.

CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT

The successful candidate will be required to read, understand, and agree to via signature, an agreement of confidentiality concerning the work commonly encountered within the Department of Public Safety to qualify for this position.
