The Division of Juvenile Justice is recruiting to fill an On-Call Nonpermanent Corrections Nurse 2 position located in Anchorage at the McLaughlin Youth Center
What you will be doing:
This on-call nonpermanent position provides staffing for absent permanent full-time nursing staff during periods of vacancy, leave, training, etc. This can range from one day a week to two weeks a month, depending on the needs of the facility and nursing staff.
Under the supervision and consultation of higher-level nurses, and in accordance with an established training plan, the Corrections Nurse 2 (CN 2) performs nursing duties to include assessing, monitoring, and maintaining the physical well-being of the residents at the McLaughlin Youth Center. They provide direct care within their scope of practice and utilize medical protocols, when necessary and available, to meet the health needs of the residents. When medical conditions are beyond their scope or protocols, they refer the residents to a higher level of care. The CN 2 will work with other floor nurses, a nursing supervisor, an office assistant, and contracted providers to include a family practice doctor, a family nurse practitioner, a child psychiatrist, and an optometrist.
