About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate, relationship-driven professional who is passionate about LEWK’s mission and building meaningful connections across Alaska. The Community + Patient Engagement Coordinator serves as a welcoming representative of LEWK in our Providence clinic and throughout the broader community. This role connects patients, survivors, caregivers, and community partners with resources and programs that foster connection, education, and support throughout the gynecologic cancer journey. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Coordinator helps bring LEWK’s programs to life through community outreach, patient engagement, program coordination, communications, and volunteer management.
What You’ll Do
Patient + Community Engagement
● Welcome patients, survivors, caregivers, and community members at LEWK’s Providence clinic and respond to inquiries by phone, email, and online.
● Help patients navigate LEWK’s offerings and connect with relevant resources and services.
● Represent LEWK at health fairs, community events, and outreach opportunities across Alaska.
● Build and maintain relationships with healthcare providers, cancer coalitions, nonprofits, and other community partners.
● Increase awareness of gynecologic cancer signs and symptoms, LEWK’s mission, and available support services.
Program + Event Coordination
● Help plan and coordinate LEWK programs, including Survivor Creative Connections, survivor retreats, the Alyeska Climbathon, the Art of Healing Conference + Weekend of events, and wellness initiatives such as Extra Toughs and the Healthy Lifestyles Campaign.
● Coordinate registrations, scheduling, participant communications, materials, venues, vendors, and event logistics.
● Maintain participant contact lists, program calendars, and other organizational records.
● Recruit, organize, and support volunteers.
● Track participation, gather feedback, and document program impact to inform ongoing improvement.
● Assist with coordination and logistical needs for programs and events.
Communications + Team Collaboration
● Support social media, website updates, newsletters that highlight LEWK’s programs and community.
● Help to create outreach and program materials; experience with Canva or graphic design is a plus.
● Manage follow-up communications and respond to general inquiries.
● Collaborate with the Executive Director and team to advance organizational priorities and support LEWK’s mission.
● Take on other related responsibilities as assigned as organizational needs evolve, with consideration for team priorities and individual strengths.
Required Qualifications
● Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative and welcoming approach.
● Comfort working in public-facing roles and engaging with diverse communities.
● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and logistics.
● Initiative and the ability to work independently while staying connected to a team.
● Flexibility to attend occasional evening or weekend events (1-2 per month).
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience coordinating programs, events, services, or community initiatives.
● Experience in healthcare, patient advocacy, cancer support, public health, or nonprofit organizations.
● Experience building community partnerships, supporting volunteers, or helping people navigate resources.
● Familiarity with social media, email marketing, website content management, or newsletters.
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with a hybrid and flexible work arrangement.
● Time can be split between the LEWK office in Providence Hospital, and home office.
