Job Description
The Angoon District Court of the Alaska Court System (ACS) is accepting applications for a part-time Clerk of Court to provide administrative assistance to the community and clerical support for the court's traveling Magistrate Judge. This position is scheduled to work 20 hours per week.
Regular job duties will include:
This position provides front-counter and telephone customer service in accordance with Alaska Court System standards and procedures. Responsibilities include processing court filings, fees, fines, bail, marriage license applications, records requests, and other legal documents; performing notary and record search duties; and establishing and maintaining civil, small claims, criminal, and minor offense cases. The position also issues summonses, writs, jury notices, and other legal documents and ensures cases are accurately processed and maintained from initiation through closure.
This position supports jury administration by processing juror questionnaires, updating court records, excusing jurors as authorized, issuing jury summonses, and maintaining accurate juror records. The position also serves as an in-court clerk as needed, including operating courtroom recording equipment, preparing log notes and judicial orders, and administering oaths. Additional responsibilities include preparing bank deposits and reconciliation reports, maintaining court supplies and forms, and updating manuals and reference materials as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by the Magistrate, Rural Court Administrator, or Area Court Administrator.
Work Hours
This position is currently scheduled to work
20 hours
per week. The work schedule for this position will be coordinated in consultation between the hiring supervisor and the selected applicant.
** This position participates in the Supplemental Benefits System (SBS), Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS), accrues personal leave, and receives up to 12 paid holidays. This position offers optional coverage for health insurance benefits. The employee will be responsible for paying one-half of the premium for the coverage elected. **

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of general clerical, office or retail work experience AND
the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).
OR
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college.
