Nine Star Education & Employment Services is seeking a visionary and community-focused
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
to lead a mission-driven organization dedicated to empowering Alaskans through education, training, and workforce development.
This is a unique opportunity to guide a respected nonprofit at the intersection of workforce innovation, community impact, and statewide collaboration. The CEO will serve as both a strategic leader and public ambassador—advancing programs that create meaningful, lasting outcomes for individuals, families, and communities across Alaska.
What You’ll Do
As CEO, you will lead the organization with clarity, purpose, and accountability. Key areas of focus include:
Strategic Leadership:
Partner with the Board of Directors to define and execute a forward-looking vision aligned with Alaska’s evolving workforce needs
Organizational Leadership:
Lead and develop a high-performing executive team and foster a strong, mission-driven culture
Financial Stewardship:
Oversee budgets, funding strategies, and financial performance, including public funding, grants, and contracts
Fundraising & External Relations:
Build relationships with funders, partners, and government stakeholders while advancing donor development efforts
Program Impact:
Ensure programs deliver measurable outcomes and meaningful impact for participants and communities
Community & Statewide Engagement:
Represent Nine Star in public forums, legislative conversations, and across Alaska’s workforce ecosystem
Board Partnership:
Support strong governance practices and maintain a collaborative, transparent relationship with the Board of Directors
What You Bring
We’re seeking a strategic, relationship-driven leader who combines operational excellence with a passion for community impact.
Experience & Leadership
5–10+ years of executive leadership experience, ideally within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization
Experience working closely with a Board of Directors
Proven success in overseeing complex operations, multi-site programs, and organizational budgets
Experience with fundraising, grants, and government funding strongly preferred
Leadership Strengths
Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into action
Executive-level communicator who can clearly articulate mission, inspire stakeholders, and build trust across diverse audiences
Strong understanding of nonprofit governance, financial management, and organizational leadership
Skilled at building partnerships across communities, agencies, and sectors
Connection to Alaska
Understanding of Alaska’s workforce landscape, communities, and diverse populations
Experience working with Alaska Native communities, tribal partners, or rural populations is highly valued

Compensation
Starting compensation for this role is $150,000+, with consideration given to experience, qualifications, and demonstrated leadership impact.
