About Borealis Basecamp and Latitude 65
Borealis Basecamp is a northern lights-focused adventure resort located in Fairbanks, Alaska. We provide a unique guest experience featuring dome-shaped igloo accommodations with clear ceilings for aurora viewing from the comfort of each room. We offer extensive on-site activities including snowmachine tours, dog sledding, reindeer encounters, and helicopter tours. In addition to overnight guests, we operate day tours from Fairbanks through our Basecamp Adventures brand.

Job Summary
The Café / Barista is responsible for delivering a welcoming and efficient guest experience within the café environment. This role serves as a key front-facing position, providing high-quality beverage service, assisting with light food service, and supporting overall front-of-house operations.
Success in this role requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide friendly, professional, and attentive service to all guests
· Prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, and other café offerings
· Greet guests and assist with seating or directing them as needed
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of café, service areas, and equipment
· Ensure menus, displays, and service areas are neat, accurate, and presentable
· Assist front-of-house team members with bussing, polishing, and general support
· Communicate with the Front of House Manager regarding reservations, flow of guests, and service needs
· Handle cash and POS transactions accurately
· Maintain proper food safety and sanitation standards
· Support additional operations and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Previous front-of-house or café experience preferred (1–2 years)
· Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
· Ability to multitask efficiently and remain organized
· Professional demeanor with a positive attitude
· Ability to work effectively as part of a team
· Willingness to work flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
· Must obtain Alaska Food Handler’s Card and TAP certification
Preferred Skills
· Experience as a barista or in coffee preparation
· Familiarity with POS systems
· Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
· Strong attention to detail and presentation
· Ability to anticipate guest needs and provide proactive service
Physical Demands
· Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods
· Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 30 lbs
· Ability to work in a fast-paced service environment
· Ability to navigate indoor and outdoor areas in varying conditions
Compensation & Benefits
Employee Housing
On-site housing is available for $10.50 per day (shared occupancy). Rooms may be double, or triple occupancy. Staff housing includes shared common areas, Wi-Fi, recreation space, and laundry facilities.
Staff dining includes three daily meals (self-serve breakfast and prepared lunch and dinner).
