What you will be doing:

The Department of Transportation & Public Facilities is seeking motivated applicants for a flexibly-staffed Budget Analyst 1/2 position, which can be filled at either the trainee (BA 1) or full working level (BA 2). As a Budget Analyst, you’ll play a vital role in supporting statewide operating and capital budget functions, collaborating with experienced professionals, and progressively developing your technical and analytical skills. Minimum Qualifications

Budget Analyst 1

Two years of technical level experience in accounting, budget, finance, or similar field. This includes, but is not limited to, such work as Accounting Technician 1 and 2, Administrative Assistant 1 and 2, Statistical Technician 1 and 2, or Human Resource Technician 1 and 2 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.

Substitution

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, statistics, or a closely related field will substitute for the required experience.

Budget Analyst 2

One year of entry professional level experience analyzing and reviewing budgetary data and information; preparing analysis, reports, and recommendations on budgetary information; and utilizing electronic information management systems. This is met by service as a Budget Analyst 1 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.

OR

Two years of entry level professional experience in accounting or auditing; financial management, budget analysis, management, or projection/forecasting; budget legislation or policy analysis; or economic or management analysis and projection.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED

This position is flexibly staffed. It may be filled at the 1 or 2 level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at a lower level, promotion to the higher level will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
