Do you have a passion for the outdoors, wildlife, and keeping people safe? At
Icy Strait Point
, our Bear Safety team members play a critical role in protecting both guests and wildlife while guiding them through some of Alaska’s most breathtaking trails. This role combines
safety, storytelling, and adventure
—making sure every guest leaves with an unforgettable (and safe!) experience.
What You’ll Do
Ensure the
safety of all guests
on the Spasski Bear Trail and ISP Hiking Trail.
Provide narration, interpretation, and answer guest questions about bears, wildlife, and the local environment.
Deliver engaging presentations and public speaking while maintaining a professional, calm demeanor.
Learn and share knowledge of Tlingit culture, local wildlife, and the surrounding environment.
Take charge in emergency situations, keeping guests safe and confident.
Safely operate and maintain equipment, including firearms, with the highest standard of responsibility.

Support your team and complete other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
First Aid/CPR certified (or willing to become certified).
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (preferred).
Advanced firearm knowledge with demonstrated safe handling skills.
Strong verbal communication and public speaking abilities.
Customer service oriented, professional, and approachable.
Willing to learn and share
Tlingit culture
and local natural history (marine life, plants, animals, birds).
Reliable and able to remain calm under pressure.
Must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing.
Physical & Work Environment
Able to walk 5+ miles a day and stand for up to 12 hours with minimal breaks.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Willing to live and work in a
remote, rural Alaskan community
(travel by ferry or small plane required).
Comfortable on gravel roads and in inclement weather.
