What You Will Be Doing

Serve as the State of Alaska’s senior-most HRIS/ERP functional–technical expert, responsible for ensuring the State’s Human Resource Information System meets complex operational, statutory, payroll, labor-relations, and regulatory requirements across all agencies.

Lead enterprise-level HRIS initiatives by translating high-stakes HR, payroll, benefits, and labor-agreement requirements into system configuration, integrations, business rules, and functional design.

Act as a statewide HRIS authority by providing expert guidance to departments, payroll offices, and external partners who exchange HR and payroll data with the State, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and system integrity.

Lead HRIS technical and functional team members, contractors, system upgrades, enterprise enhancements, and statewide payroll production cycles to maintain stable, compliant system operations.

Evaluate proposed legislation, bargaining-agreement changes, and statewide business-process updates to determine HRIS impacts and recommend strategic, feasible solutions that support long-term system reliability and statutory compliance.

Knowledge of HR management concepts, principles, and practices related to identifying and analyzing HR processes, translating functional requirements into technical requirements, and delivering and maintaining HR information systems.

Labor Relations:

Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, case law, principles, and practices related to negotiating and administering labor agreements.

Employee Benefits:

Knowledge of HR concepts, principles, and practices related to retirement, insurance, injury compensation, and other employee benefits programs.

Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Training in computer science or system analysis and/or progressively responsible professional experience analyzing, developing, testing, troubleshooting, or maintaining computer applications.
