The Department of Revenue, Tax Division is recruiting for an Application Developer 1/2/3 in Anchorage or Juneau!
This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Please check our

Pay will be determined based on location of selected individual.
What You Will Be Doing:
Supporting the Tax Division’s IT applications by maintaining, updating, and enhancing complex, inter-related systems that support statewide revenue programs.
Designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting software applications using technologies such as C#, SQL, ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML, and Power Apps.
Working closely with senior developers, business analysts, and division staff to gather requirements, understand business workflows, participate in design discussions, and ensure successful implementation of solutions.
Assisting in daily system maintenance, monitoring system performance, responding to outages, and ensuring the reliability, security, and integrity of Tax Division applications.
Participating in pair-programming, code reviews, project development, application testing, and documentation efforts that support continuous improvement of mission-critical systems.
We have a strong preference for candidates who already possess working knowledge of our core Microsoft development ecosystem, including C#, SQL, SQL Server, Visual Studio, Azure, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, and SharePoint Online.

Computers and Electronics:
Knowledge of electric circuit boards, processors, chips, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Training in computer programming or system analysis and/or experience using a computer for analysis (including experience in the use of computer reporting languages); providing software/hardware installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and support to end-users; and/or direct computer programming.
APPLICATION DEVELOPER 2
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:
Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving:
Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
Computer Languages:
Knowledge of computer languages and their applications to enable a system to perform specific functions and skill in designing, writing, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and maintaining the source code of computer programs.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Training in computer programming or system analysis and/or experience writing, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, or maintaining a computer program’s source code.
APPLICATION DEVELOPER 3
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:
Adaptability:
Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demand and competing priorities in a changing environment.
Computer Languages:
Knowledge of computer languages and their applications to enable a system to perform specific functions and skill in designing, writing, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and maintaining the source code of computer programs.
Customer/Quality Focus:
Anticipates, monitors, and meets the needs of customers and responds to them in an effective, appropriate manner. Demonstrates commitment to identifying customers’ apparent and underlying needs and continually seeks to provide the highest quality service and product to all customers.

Training in computer programming or system analysis and/or progressively responsible professional experience developing, testing, troubleshooting, or maintaining computer applications.
