Job Description
The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for an Accounting Clerk position at Goose Creek Correctional Center (GCCC) in Mackenzie Point, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:
The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Process invoices and payments to vendors and provide accounting and administrative support to GCCC.
Reconcile the in-house obligation journal with the Alaska Data Enterprise Reporting (ADLER) system weekly, verifying that each transaction is accurately entered and researching and correcting any discrepancy or errors.
Ensure the 30-day Payment Policy for the SOA is followed as well as guidelines set by the Administrative Officer.
Maintain a file system for all delivery orders, invoices and statements.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
Goose Creek Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 1500 inmates and employs over 350 staff. You will be working in an office environment with other staff daily, with the potential of working around inmates.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
AND
Six months of paid or volunteer work experience that included using computer systems to enter, retrieve, or communicate information and handling cash or performing basic arithmetic calculations.
Substitutions:
Education from an accredited college or vocational school may substitute for the required experience (3 semester or 4 quarter hours of college education equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education equal one month of experience).
A Career Readiness Certificate with ACT WorkKeys® scores of skill level 4 or higher in Graphic Literacy (formerly Locating Information), skill level 4 or higher in Applied Math, and skill level 4 or higher in Workplace Documents (formerly Reading for Information) will substitute for the high school diploma and required experience.

PREA NOTIFICATION
The Department of Corrections follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including, but not limited to, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders. PREA standards preclude the department from hiring or promoting anyone who has engaged in, or been convicted of any conduct which would violate PREA standards related to sexual assault including:
Sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution;
Convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or
Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described above.
EDUCATION
If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of units completed. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position. Transcripts can be attached at the time of application or provided at the time of interview.

It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

If using work experience not already documented in your application, also provide the employer name, your job title, dates of employment, and whether full-or part-time. A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN.
