Accountant 3 located in Juneau!

This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 18.

What You Will Be Doing:

This position provides essential administrative and financial oversight for federally funded grants and programs within the Division of Employment and Training Services (DETS). It manages incoming federal awards, establishes the financial framework, and ensures full compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and policies. The incumbent reviews and analyzes divisional expenditures for accuracy and prepares necessary documentation to process adjusting journal entries.

Your office is conveniently located at the base of the Juneau Douglas bridge with plenty of parking and is adjacent to Overstreet Park. This position is part of a small team who collaboratively perform fast paced, challenging, and fulfilling work to meet the goals of the division.

Who We Are Looking For:

We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:

Accounting Operations

: Knowledge of general ledger accounting and the control/subsidiary account relationships and reconciliation techniques, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and disbursing officer's accountability.

Budget Administration

: Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration and analysis; including preparing, justifying, reporting on, and executing the budget; and the relationships among program, budget, accounting, and reporting systems.

Financial Examination

: Knowledge of the laws, regulations, principles, and practices that govern financial institutions (depository and non-depository) handling financial services transactions; analyzes financial statements, lending or loan portfolios, client/customer files, investment portfolios, and/or management policies and operations; examine for safety and soundness and/or compliance; identifies any discrepancies and determines necessary corrective actions.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible professional level experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial management.
